Tim Burton’s movies are always black, and it always gives me a sense of hollow and queasy after watching one. And even this movie is adopted from a children’s book, it still couldn’t avoid Burton’s humorless cut.

Johnny Depp did a rather good portrait on this movie and even though he plays it rather cold, but still you don’t doubt Johnny.

The movie is colourful, yet, it is an exaggeration of colour and nobody would really like such a combination of colours in reality. I bet not even Charlie likes it, but still, well, the little boy was so innocent and didn’t know if danger is catching near.

I personally dislike the whoopa loompas, they are just ridiculous, I can’t relate and I certainly resent for such a small creature. It is simply insane.

I long to watch this movie after so many years, and now finally I’ve watched it, I give it a 2 stars, for Johnny, and what’s left the hollow feeling in me.
