Another Day Another Ruined Temple

The 2nd full day journey began with sun rise at Bahkheng hill, a 15min walk up the small hill for a temple on the top. It was relatively deserted because it was supposed to be a place to watch sunset, not sun rise. But good enough for us, we were alone with just a couple of tourists.

Again, the sun was blocked by the clouds of last night’s rain, there was nothing to watch, so we went down and had our breakfast at another even more expensive “mamak” stall, this time it cost me $4.75 for a plate of stirred cucumber with pork which comes with rice, and cambodian tea which was jasmine tea. A little outrageous but we hanged on for the last time.

day 3 with editorial ~

The rest of the day was kind of blurry to me because I simply couldn’t remember which memory belongs to which temple that we visited, Keeyit and I were a little overcome by the blocks and blocks of old stone temples that we actually started to have wicked idea on posing and take editorial pictures. It was kind of fun, and at least taken off a bit of the heat from the sun.

Banteay Srei though, on the other hand was something I remember because the journey to this temple was rather long (about 30mins) and the structure was more specific and the stone carving was more magnificent, still we didn’t stay too long because of the heat and the crowds of tourist.

day 3 with no sun rise

After a hefty lunch which cost only $2 in town, we went back to sleep and avoiding the sun. By 4pm, Keeyit was too lazy to move so it left the 3 guys to explore the Roluos Group. There were only 3, Bakong, Preah Ko, and Lolei. Bakong was pretty nice, with the almost setting sun background we got some good pictures, the other two were not worth a mention.

By the evening, we went to a $12 buffet which I think was rather poor taste since I didn’t find Cambodian cuisine appetizing (except the spring roll). And there was a dance performance and I didn’t find it too fascinating as well.

I spent some of the money I left on souvenirs (singlet and t-shirt are only $1.50 each) and we just walked back to call it a night. Overall I would say the trip would get better if we were not over heated, or were we not well prepared enough to stand the heat (even we are Malaysians!!!) And the night life in Siam Reap was pretty happening, only we didn’t join any bars or clubs for alcohols as we were too beat up by the day trip.

Day 3 and keeyit being my model

I am not sure if I wanted to go again, but other places seems more attracting my attentions than Cambodia. Nevertheless, I was having quite some good time with my mates and I got to forget my hectic KL life for a bit. Maybe if there was a chance I would stay in a higher class place, sipping cocktails and dipping in the pool…hehe~ till then.
