No Car
I chatted with this guy met recently and he was shocked that I didn’t own a car (or any type of automobile).
Sure I am 29 (ouch), sure I live in KL or any place in Malaysia, sure I’m a guy, and sure I don’t have a car although I do drive lousily (due to no car). I have renewed my driving license for almost 10 years, and I practically paid for nothing I used.
Seriously, I don’t like to drive, that says it all. And I don’t like the idea of stucking in traffic jam, paying high parking fees, well, looking for parking spaces on top of that, high maintenance fee for a machinical machine that I am not good at. I really admire those countries where citizen don’t have to drive and public transport is a bliss. That’s why I moved to KL, because in the least they offer LRT which I think is the best public transportation in Malaysia (but none to compare with other countries)
And I am sort of an environmentalist, so I am trying to avoid using a car whenever I could. So you might ask, how do I travel around? Well, for work, I use LRT, that’s why I stay so near the station, and for leisure, I will go to LRT reachable places, or rely on my friends’ car. It is very dependent and very limiting to open up my social cycle, but well, I am really just a homey guy who likes to stay in, and I am stingy enough not to spend money whenever I could.
But look at the high side, if I were to go dating, at least the guy could drive me home and during the journey, he could hold my hand, isn’t that insanely romantic?
Oh ya? Maybe you didn’t try LRT on peak hours yet?
