Golden Retriever And Fergie

Now my community fish tank has a total of 7 fish, thanks to the alliance of Golden Retriever and Fergie, 2 guppies that I bought last night at Taman Bahagia The Pet Family.

Golden Retriever (RM3.50) is a yellow male, young and quite restless, but late last night I found him developed a swelling belly and I worried it was dropsy again. But luckily this morning I saw his shape is back to normal again, so happy. He’s pretty quiet now compared to the time I put him in initially, always swim around like crazy, trying to explore the tank and mark his territory I guessed.

Fergie (RM1.50) is a huge purple female, also very energetic, and I was a little suspicious as her anal part was black and the internet said the pregnant ones would have such symptom. Yet her belly wasn’t that big, so I guess she still has some days to get really fat. She’s now almost becoming the queen of the tank and even chased the 3 pinky fish down. I’m so proud~

FYI, guppy is livebearer, which means they hatch their egg in the belly and give birth to actual fry directly. Livebearer is the only possibility for amateur like me to breed fish as it’s a one girl show without needing of creating mating environment for a male and a female. But the only bad thing is I don’t plan to quarantine the female upon giving birth and intend to let the fry’s own luck do its trick by testing their survival skill over the community tank by hiding around the water plants in there. I know it’s cruel but I really don’t’ intend to breed more fish in my tiny 3 gallon fish tank, it’s already so small.

Anyway, I’m very happy that they join my fish family and may them live well and healthy. I will eventually add 2 more species into my community, an octocat (algae eating mouth sucking catfish) and a shrimp (most probably is Yamato because it’s cheap), so that will make 9 fish in total, must be such a great scene by then, hoho~
